Frances QUIN

In a letter from Timothy Quinn to Governor Arthur in April 1830, he claimed that his 'children had been born on the land that he had lost' at Pattersons Plains.

The death certificate states that she died aged 78 (born 1819) and was born in VDL. Cause of death: bronchitis

The cemetery details were not given in the funeral announcement. The funeral was to leave her residence. Undertaker: Storrer. There is no mention of her burial in the Church of England and Episcopal interment records.

Frances was baptised by the Rev. John Youl, the first official chaplain of Port Dalrymple. Until his arrival in January 1819, the only Church ceremonies celebrated were performed either by the Chaplain of Hobart, the Rev. Robert Knopwood on his occasional visits to the north of the island. In January 1819 Youl travelled throughout the district marrying 41 couples and baptising 67 children. Many of those baptised were children of the newly wedded couples. Frances's sister, Jane, was baptised on the same day. There is no record of their parents being married by Youl. For whatever reason, Timothy and Rachael chose to wait until 1827 to have their son, John, baptised in the Roman Catholic Church.
Many other family members were married or baptised on Rev. You'ls arrival. For example, Catherine Jordan, daughter of James Jordan, was married on the same day to James Davey.
